Introducing the HR team

Sandy Ah Hing - HR Manager

Sandy has 20 years’ experience in the wellness and spa industry, 15 ½ of those working for the ultimate beauty destination at the Urban Retreat group within Harrods.  Sandy’s experience has spanned across various functions starting at the front line through to events & marketing, corporate sales, customer engagement and for the best part of a decade in HR.

South African born, Sandy joined Urban Retreat as a Head Receptionist in Harvey Nichols and then had an opportunity to developed the in-house events and marketing department where she worked on a wide range of charities including the Make a Wish Foundation, Breakthrough for Breast Cancer, UNISCEF, Terrance Higgins Trust; working on television series and networks such as Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, MTV, Britain’s Next Top Model, Granada, ITV, QVC and numerous corporate events.

After a few years in marketing and events, Sandy moved into the HR team. In 2011, her HR team won the Gold Award for Commitment to High Standards of Personnel Practices -  recognising the values of people, camaraderie, the fundaments of transparency and diversity.

In 2012, Sandy became Group Human Resource Director responsible for all people engagement initiatives, although arguably Sandy’s most important role to date began in 2014 when she became a mum!

Sandy’s objective for LEO is for the brand to be recognised as an employer of choice and to develop a people-academy of distinguished talent succession.

Ashley Cheung – HR Advisor

Ashley graduated from Macquarie university with a bachelor degree in Business Administration and has spent the past 4 years working in HR within numerous different industries including; retail, fashion and financial services.

Ashley was born in Hong Kong where she started working at 17, she then went on to study for her bachelor degree, in Marketing and Human Resources in Sydney before returning to Hong Kong to pursue her career in People Management.  

Ashley joined Walmart as an Administrative Assistant to support Human Resources and later had an opportunity to join DFS Group, one of the subsidies of LVMH Group as Human Resources Officer. She then joined Alliance Bernstein as a Human Resources Associate to support APAC clients, before her next stop which was London and LEO, where she has been since July!

Kwarley Papafio – Training Manager

Kwarley joined LEO as Training Manager on 7th November and is looking forward to learning the business and supporting the company in developing its greatest assets… its people!

Kwarley’s background is in training and recruitment where she has gained over 20 years’ experience working in the public sector. Kwarley mainly worked for social housing providers, as well as in private consultancy ranging from a tiny housing provider that managed 250 properties, through to large commercially run housing companies.

Immediately before joining LEO Kwarley worked for five years as the Training Manager at the London Cycle Hire Scheme. Having built a legacy of training and support across the contract she felt it was time to move on.

Kwarley’s role will encompass Induction, delivering the LEO Experience and developing new training offerings.
