A guide to Holborn & Covent Garden

London’s West End is the vibrant, cultural heart of the capital. Its busy streets are lined with restaurants and bars, theatres, hotels, museums and markets. Some of the UK’s biggest law and technology firms are based here, with many Argyll customers choosing our Holborn and Covent Garden office space or coworking locations to be at the centre of this vibrant neighbourhood. In this guide, we explore what it’s like to work in this lively area of London.

Holborn & Covent Garden transport links

Both the Argyll Holborn and Covent Garden workspaces are closely positioned to major transport links. As well as easy access to Central, Piccadilly, Circle and Northern London Underground lines, Charing Cross, Farringdon and City Thameslink mainline train station are a short walk away. Or if you prefer to ride into town, there are cycleways leading to the West End and a number of Santander Cycle docking stations nearby.

Take a breather

Taking a break from work is easy here. Head to the banks of the River Thames for a walk, or take some time out in Lincoln’s Inn Fields or Victoria Embankment Gardens. Good coffee can be found in abundance – Monmouth Coffee have served London from their Covent Garden store since ‘78, Black Sheep Coffee’s baristas deliver speciality-grade coffees, or you’ll find a Prȇt, Leon or Nero around most corners.

Lunch meetings in Holborn & Covent Garden

Covent Garden and Holborn’s streets offer an almost endless choice of cafes and restaurants. There’s no shortage of the usual high-street options, from Wasabi to Pizza Express, but there are many alternatives for something a little more local. Leather Lane food market dishes up a feast of foodie options, Chilango is the place for a Mexican hit, or The Delaunay brasserie is legendary. If you’re looking for relaxed lunch, head to Haché Burger Social, or for some New York buzz, try Balthazar.

Workout and wind down

When you want to burn off some steam, head out for a run along the Thames, or a game of football, tennis or netball at Lincoln’s Inn Fields. Go for a ride at Boom Cycle, or a full-body work out at Gymbox or PureGym. For a dose of inspiration or to give your mind a break, go for a wander at the British Museum.

After work entertainment

When you can finally close your laptop, the West End - and all it has to offer - is on your doorstep. Some of the capital’s oldest pubs can be found here: The Ship Tavern, The Cittie of York, and The Lamb and Flag. Order a pie and a pint in the grand surroundings of The Old Bank of England, break from pub traditions at The Pregnant Man, or relax with a chic, herb-infused cocktail at Baranis. For something a little different, head to Bounce for a game of ping pong, or take a masterclass in stand up at the Museum of Comedy.
